"It's the most depth and experience we have on defense," Longview athletic director and head football coach John King said of his program's linebacker crew.

Longview and Texas High played 63 real football games between 1922 and 2015, but the UIL realignment disrupted that trend in 2016 when it sent them to different classifications. The two programs eventually found a way to resume their series in 2018 with the first of many competitive preseason scrimmage challenges that helped develop successful season-long game plans over the years.
