LONGVIEW - Longview High School's Loboes defeated the Mount Pleasant High School football team at Fair Park Friday afternoon, 13 to 0. Fumbles and penalties against Longview kept the team from running the score.
The Mount Pleasant team failed to show a thing against the Loboes except in passing. They completed several passes for good gains over McCreary, Lobo halfback. The only other gains they made were against Lobo substitutes who were in the game at the end of the first half. For the Loboes the regular team showed up well, only a few gains being made while they were in the game. As usual, the Loboes are weak when substitutes are sent in as they do not seem to have the fight. Ross, McGowan and Williams showed up well in the backfield. The Lobo line, so far has been a stonewall to Class B teams. Longview is now faced with transferring the remaining games of their schedule away from home on account of finances. The game Friday cost the local manager $75 and gate receipts were only $18.60. Unless the people of Longview turn out and support the Loboes, as they did the Cannials, they will be forced to play all remaining games away from home. The Loboes will play Mineola here next Friday. |
