LONGVIEW - Longview High School ended the football season on local grounds yesterday in a spectacular manner, defeating the Gilmer High School eleven at Fair Park, 26-0.
Smarting under their defeat inflicted earlier in the season on the Gilmer grounds, the local eleven was out yesterday for vengeance, and took it in large measure from the Upshur county lads.
The local eleven started the scoring early in the game, and added to the score at different junctures, until they had rolled up 26 points, while they kept the Gilmer team back from the goal line.
Quite a large number of local fans were on hand for the game and thoroughly enjoyed the work of the local eleven.
To celebrate the victory of the football game yesterday afternoon, the high school students honored the football boys with a dance at the home of Miss Geraldine Van Allen last night. Forty students were present. Refreshments were served.
