LONGVIEW - Riding at the top of the heap with a perfect record by dent of their 26-0 win over Athens here Friday night in their conference opener, the Longview Lobos tomorrow will get busy on their week of work in preparation for their invasion of Texarkana Thursday night. They tangle with Texas High's Tigers in another district engagement at 8 p.m. that night.
The tussle was set up fro the original Friday night date because of a conflict with a circus performance. The Lobos had an easy time disposing of the Hornets Friday night, scoring practically at will and using nearly all of the large squad in the process. From the time Lonnie Clark, Lobo fullback, plucked a Hornet pass out of the air on his own 25 and returned it 75 yards for the first score, it was a closed case. They marched 61 yards for their second score, Eberhardt carrying he ball across the final stripe. Johnson counted the third time on a 17-yard reverse and also notched the last one on a two-yard jag around end. The Wolves muffed the Hornet's attack both on the ground and in the air, but the Athens backs tossed 41 aerials in their vain effort to mark. |
