LONGVIEW - Resorting largely to the air, despite a cold, blustery wind, the Longview Lobos pushed through the Marshall Mavericks here Friday afternoon, 19 to 6, to paste the fifth consecutive defeat on Rufus King's cripples.
A reverse from Worsham, who galloped forty-one yards, gave P. E. Shotwell's charges their first marker in the opening period. Don Fambrough, on the receiving end of a Statue of Liberty play, ran sixty-eight yards for the second touchdown, which came in the first few minutes of the second period. Hardy Miller's pass to Sapp in the fourth gave Longview its third score. Fambrough kicked goal. Coleman's pass to Loyd, in the third quarter, gave the visitors their lone score. The Mavericks meet Tyler in Marshall next Thursday and the Lobos will close the season the same day with the Gladewater Bears at the local stadium. |
