MOUNT PLEASANT - They came, they saw, they...
The Loboes' goal line remains as yet for someone to cross and it seems as though it is up to a team of better caliber than is produced in class B schools. Friday afternoon, the Loboes took the measure of the Mount Pleasant Tigers by a tune of 73 to 0. With perfect interference and open field running that was a credit to any football team, the Loboes piled up the score of the season. In the first quarter, Edwards of Mount Pleasant punted to McCreary on the Loboes' 35-yrd line and he raced aross the line for the first score of the game. The Tigers seemed to tighten and the Loboes were unable to score any more that quarter. End runs by Ray, Williams, and Boring, line plunges by Ross and an intercepted pass by Meredith netted the Loboes 25 points in the second quarter. A series of passes, Ross to Ray and Ross to Williams, end runs by Boring and line bucks by Ross and Ray gave the Loboes 14 more points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers came within two yards of the Loboes' goal line but were unable to forge their way through in four downs and Longview's line remained uncrossed. A series of passes and end runs by Ross and McCreary and a 90-yard run by McCreary ran Longview's total up 27 points in the last quarter. The game ended with the ball in Mount Pleasant's possession after McCreary had kicked after a touchdown. |
